A lost art (Carlsbad Current-Argus)

I grew up in and around the family print shop, where the pungent smell of printer's ink hung in the air. A massive linotype machine sang like a giant mechanical bird, noisily spitting out slugs of hot lead type; the waste lead collected on the floor in a heavy heap, shinier than new dimes.
